Precision-pieced patchwork

I ended up machine-appliqueing the owls' eyes with a satin stitch. Here they are on their perch ready to be added to the main part of the quilt.

Next up is this cute little squirrel. Both the squirrel and the owl are Margaret Rolfe designs. Even with foundation piecing, it's quite fiddly to get precise points where segments meet.
The eye and acorn are only about 1/4in across, and are ready to be appliqued in place.

Margaret Rolfe's alphabet quilt with letter and other motifs was one of the first quilting books I ever purchased. I need to see if I still have it. These blocks are adorable!
